the latest edition of california political week or cal-peak, this speaks to what we were talking about. how the republican party has lost its edge particularly among latinos, women young voters. in california, my state california republican party used to have 63.2% of voter registration. registered voters in california. republicans. today, for the first time, voter -- republican voter registration in california, this is according to cal-peak has fallen below 30%. democrats hold every statewide office and both the united states senators and of course the big majority of the united states congressional delegation. republican party bob mulholland use to the work for me as political director of the party. is quoted as saying wolves have a better chance of getting off the endangered species list than republicans. is going to do. if he caucuses with the democrats, they'll have 55 seats in the house. in california's 36th district, republican congresswoman mary bono mack will not be returning to the hill. julia brownley wins the district 26 race. in michigan's first district, dan benishek is declared. republican. 100% reported in arizona's second district, gabby giffords' former seat, though it had had been redriked, democratic congressman ron barber is trailing by about 400 votes but no call there. in arizona's 9th district, 125 vote there. in california, lungren is trailing by less than 200 votes. in florida's 18th district, 100% of the vote is in. republican congressman allen west is trailing. seems a little bit too much to overcome. 2,500 votes. he's demanding a recount. you do wonder what happens if the florida presidential has to go in that direction. i'll explain that in a few minutes. north carolina, district 7, 100% in. the democrat incumbent there is in the lead but it is only 500 votes. there will be a runoff in louisiana's third dwikt between two republicans. >>> two races still too close t

, yes, courts set them when the people themselves, even in california, even in hawaii, even in most liberal places have had chance to vote they said we want marriage to be between man and woman. the polling on this it always ends up being larger majority for those favoring traditional marriage on the actual election day than what the polls normally show. if it's a dead heat in places like maine right now, my guess is, marriage is going to win. >> remember when and if the supreme court gets this case it is likely to go off on constitutional grounds. think for a moment. whether you want to vote on most of what the constitution today allows or prohibits. i'm not surprised. particularly i'm not surprised because almost all of these referenda came on very early before you saw the transformation we now see in the voting public. they came on who put them on. those who were always against same sex marriage. the people are only catching up to them now, i concede that this is one of the great transformations, issues of all times. it's not going to happen in one fell swoop but it is happening.
